The system is for the installation of suspended ceilings or partition walls, using this straight of elastic material with flanges bent symmetrically so as to form a C-section. These are secured to the joists of a rigid framework by yokes straddling the joists and formed from flat strips bent into a V-shape. The flanges at the strip edges are bent inwards through more than 90 deg. when secured to the joists (3), and these flanges fit in notches in the yokes (2). The angle between the arms of the yoke when free is greater than when pressed against the joist faces, and each arm has two symmetrical lateral notches. The distance between the outer edge of each notch and the bend in th yoke is determined by a formula taking into account the height of the joist and the cosines of the angles between the yoke arms when free and under load.
