Fixing strip for securing insulating cladding to a wall - comprising metal channel section having one flange bent over at right angles and the other flange bent into U-shape

A fixing strip, for securing insulating cladding to e.g., the wall of refrigerated room or container, is of metallic channel section having one flange shorter than the other. The short flange is bent over outwardly into a U-shape portion in which an edge of a sheet material (forming e.g., the visible face of the cladding) can be secured by rivets, and the longer flange is bent over at right angles. The longer flange is secured to pref. horizontal heat insulating battens fixed to the wall and a first layer of insulating panels is supported by the battens and the bent over portion of the longer flange. A second layer of heat insulating panels is supported by the web portion of the fixing strip. Each insulating panel is pref. of fibrous material and its periphery is covered with polyethylene film. The cladding can be easily secured such that convection currents between the wall and cladding are eliminated.
