Coin counting machine for various diameter coins - uses light beam detector to count coins passing down output chute

The coin counting machine can handle coins of differing diameter and counts the coins as they apss down an output chute, with the passage of the coins being blocked when a given number of coins have been inserted into a coin bag. A static coin detector, e.g. a light barrier, is positioned near the coin exit from the chute, with a retractable finger used to block the passage of the coins down the chute. The coins are pref. supplied to the sloping coin shute, one at a time via a rotating transfer disc, with a channel for receiving the coins around its periphery. The coin detector may be carried by an element which can move parallel to the axis of the shute, into a position corresponding to the coin diameter.
