1461660 Combined steam superheating and drying apparatus STAL-LAVAL APPAEAT AB 6 June 1974 [7 June 1973] 25173/74 Heading F4A A combined steam dryer/superheater apparatus comprises a lower steam dryer section 11 and an upper superheater section 12 formed from two vertically arranged tube assemblies 26, 27; an outlet passage 30 between the assemblies increasing in cross-section towards the top and the heating medium passed through the assemblies being steam. The dryer section 11 comprises an inner shell 19 which defines wet steam inlet and dry steam outlet passages with an outer pressurized shell 21 and vertical plates 22, and parallel connected wire mesh dryers 15 separated by inclined water guiding plates 16. The plates 22 are arranged to provide an inlet passage of decreasing, and an outlet passage of increasing cross-section. Uniform flow to the driers 15 is controlled by orifice plates at the inlet 23 and outlet 24 to each drier. Dry steam rises to the superheater section and water is drained by pipe 17. The tube assemblies 26, 27 are parallel connected and are each inclined away from the central vertical and joined by side plates 29 to define the central outlet passage 30.
