The subsynchronous static converter cascade, for a synchronous machine, consists of a 3-phase bridge rectifier coupled via a DC circuit to a static inverter and at its input to the slip-ring rotor. The inverter drives a transformer whose secondary is coupled to an AC supply network. The machine has its rotor coupled to the primary of a transformer with two secondaries. The secondaries are connected to two 3-phase thyristor bridges coupled in series. The two bridges are connected at each end via inductors to two pairs of static inverters feeding the transformer that supplies the AC network.
