Operating theatre air sterilisation arrangement - through germ-free air curtain blown around operation zone on operating table

The air in an operating theatre is conditioned and sterilised by a germfree air curtain around the operating area. The sterilised air which contains a disinfectant or a protective gas can be introduced through an annular source or tangentially. The operating table (4) is to be used for operations in the zone (6). Air is introduced from a filter and conditioner (20) through a diffuser (8) to an outlet (14) with a fitted suspension filter (16). Cloths (18) direct the air over the operating zone (6). In an alternative arrangement the cloths (18) are replaced by a hollow ring with inner perforations so that a curtain of sterile air is blown over the operating zone (6).
