Fish tank water quality control - uses inclined jets to remove sediment and provide quiescent water zones

A device for controlling water quality in a fish tank is designed to provide quiescent zones of water despite a constant flow through the tank and whilst adequately removing sediment. A baffle wall (16) fills the height and breadth of the tank at the influx end and contains inlet holes at its bottom. The inlet holes are inclined downwards into the tank and are also inclined to the longitudinal tank axis. Water is provided via a closed pipe (13) with an opening (14) upstream at the baffle (16). The pipe may be sealed downstream of the opening (14) by means of a slide plate (18).
