The steering wheel grip (1) enabling the steering wheel to be turned single handed, is fixed to the steering wheel rim (4) by two kidney shaped half shells and adjustable springs (5, 6). The grip is wholly or partly of rubber and contains a sprung shaft with a fixed rebound plate. The grip fixing clamps (2, 3) span a sufficiently large rim section to give a reliable hold under normal working conditions. At extreme pressure, the spring force is overcome and the grip deflects downwards. The fixing clamps consists of self vulcanising rubber layers to provide universal fitting to different steering wheel rim types.
