The oscillating type wiper assembly has a drive shaft at the end of which is a lever or oscillating arm. The lever (16) is joined to the shaft (11) by a form of resistance welding. The lever (16) has a hollow seating, circular in shape and with a dia. less than that of the shaft (11). The shaft has a shoulder which is then pressed against the hollow circular seating and the welded. As an alternative, the seating may be stepped together with the end of the shaft, to give several rings of weld.
