An advancing mine support system has vertical channels (4, 5) arranged so as a front set (2) and rear set (3) extending between roof members and floor members (67). Telescopic cylinders are included between the bases of the channels and the floor members. Horizontal side supports (7) are attached in a staggered manner to the two vertical sets. A horizontal advancing cylinder (17) is mounted between the vertical cylinders (65, 66, 57). At the zone of the joints between the channels and the vertical cylinders are mounted spreader plates (27, 28) which are connected by sliders (35) to a horizontal channel (29), to guide the front and rear assemblies during advancing movement. Hinge pins (30, 50) pass through these spreader plates. Pins (38) at front and rear pass through vertical slots (37) in the spreader plates.
