The key protector is used to prevent the dropping out of a key from a mortice lock. A spring clip is introduced into the keyhole to prevent the key from being removed. The key can be removed only by eliminating the spring pressure from that side of the door in which they key was inserted. The key neck is held by two flexible arms with slight friction contact. This prevents automatic rotation of the key but not intentional rotation of the key for door locking. The blocking arrangement has three parts, a spring section inserted into the key hole and guide cup for the springs and an upper cup pushed into a guide over the lower cup. A firm connection is established between the two cups and the spring is loaded against the opening direction of the key.
