The chair, esp. a swivel office chair has a foot frame (2) and a seat support construction (4) connected to same by a support (3) wherein a setting device (7) which can swivel about an axis X and can be limited in this swivel movement is provided on the support construction (4) and is connected to a foot rest (6) which moves with same. The setting device (7) can be formed by at least one arm (9) which is attached for articulated movement to the support construction (4) and swivels about this joint and by a ratchet member (13) which defines the swivel movement of the arm. The support construction (4) can be a known U-shaped design wherein a swivel arm (9) and ratchet member are attached to the arms (10, 11) of the construction remote from the seat surface (5).
