The separating element for pneumatic individual grain sowing machines has a plate which can turn about a horizontal axis and is provided with intake holes on an arc. A vacuum is applied to one side of this plate while in the bottom region of the other side it is passed through a seed supply, then which it picks up grains held at the holes. The separating element is pivot-supported, is parallel to the plate, projects into the path of motion of the holes and on its side away from the holed plate, it is inclined towards this plate. This side of the element away from the plate is a unit surface which is continuous over the complete range of the element. With the side of the element facing the perforated plate, the first side forms a working edge which closes in the direction of rotation of the plate.
