Computer controlled paper stretching - uses defined sections of the paper's path for measurement and control

In a paper making machine, the material is subjected to defined tension, using a continuous blanket, where its length has to be measured and controlled. The path of the material being handled is divided into sections. The lengths of the sections are added together with the length of the path encircling or partially encircling rollers across the material width. A pre-set calculating programme uses the combined lengths to give the total length of the treated material. The system allows the length of the treated material to be measured exactly, and allows a controlled stretching action on the treated material within the parameters of the paper grade and quality being processed.
