Soil working machine has a box-shaped tool carrier has its greatest expansion transverse to the working direction. On its underside, this tool carrier has one or more soil working tools which are driven about upwards pointing shafts and consist of support arms which are fitted with tines. A safety device is fitted at the same level as the support arms in front of the tools and extends over the complete working width. It consists of several connected segments which cover only one part of the working width. Each segment can be adjusted independently in the vertical direction and in the working direction.
