Photothermographic material has light-sensitive layers(s) contg. an organic Ag salt, a photcatalust, a reducing agent and a toner and, in addn., a polymer coating contg. a toner with an -NM-CO- unit (in which M is H, OH or a monovalent metal atom), pref. in an amt. o- f 0.01-20 g/m2. The coating contg. the toner ensures that a dark image is obtd., which has excellent thermal stability. Each toner pref. is a phthalazinone, an N-heterocyclic dione, a 1,3-benzoxazindione or a quinazolindione. In an example the addn. of phthalazinone to the polymer coating increased the speed and Dmax but not the thermal fog and gave a blacker image.
