A new phase contrast mammography (PCM) system employing dry processing imaging has been designed which utilizes a new silver salt photothermographic film, SD-PM, and a new dry laser imager, the DRYPRO793. The new silver salt photothermographic film (SD-PM) utilizes highly dispersed fine-grain fatty acid silver salts and new heat developers. These technologies provide not only a maximum obtainable density of 4.0 and a blue-black image tone, but also exceptional developing ability and image stability. To exploit these film qualities and the unmatched resolution of the PCM input units, a new dry laser imager (the DRYPRO793) prints diagnostic images at a pixel size of 25 μm. An optimum laser beam diameter and improved LD modulation reply further enhance the performance of this dry imager.
