Industrial digital control for machine tool - uses dedicated minicomputer for control of multi-axis machine tool system

The use of a dedicated mini-computer allows a high degree of flexibility in the operation of a numerically controlled machine tool system. The controller (1) is operated as a stand alone unit in conjunction with a milling machine (3) fitted with an automatic tool changing facility (6). Software routines held in store provide both continuous path cutter generation and also provide auxiliary function control. Data and programme storage is provided with an RAM with entry from magnetic tape. Manual operating modes and data entry facilities are mounted on the console door together with a visual display unit (9).
