Device for determn. of impurities in an alkali-metal by distn. under reduced pressure, comprising a cylindrical chamber with base, lid, vacuum-connection, and an inlet for charging samples of the alkali-metal. The novelty is that a heating plate is fitted in the lower part of the chamber and several removable crucibles contg. the samples of alkilimetal are mounted on the plate; on the plate is a rotary distributor grid used to move the crucibles round the plate above which is a condenser supplied by coolant from outside the chamber via a hollow shaft; the necessary seals are provided and the distance between the heating plate and the condenser is adjustable. The claims also include a device for supplying a standard quantity of alkali-metal to the crucibles. The method is used e.g. in determn. of O2, C,S,P, and halides in sodium used for heat transfer in nuclear power stations; such impurities cause corrosion of the plant.
