Blends of (A) a polyamide and (B) a modified polyethylene contg. 0.0005-0.01 (0.001-0.05) mol. equivs. active acid anhydride gps. per 100 g polyethylene wt. ratio of (A) to (B) is 90:10-40:60, (85:15 to 50:50) esp. 80:20-60:40. The blends have increased impact strength of 50% by the Gardner test and pref. by the notched Izod test. The blends are used in the prodn. of films, sheets, fibres, laminates or other mouldings, including reinforced articles, for vehicles, machinery, aircraft, containers and coatings for washing machines, dish washers, etc. They have greatly increased impact strength compared with blends of polyamides and unmodified PE, e.G. up to 300% by Gardener or 1000% by Izod test.
