The machine tool with vertical axis of rotation can be for example a lathe or a grinding machine. The workpiece table moves on its seat and tool carrier moves on a slideway. The machine tool layout ensures several advantages due to simplicity of design which ensures high machining capacity and reliable operation. The seat (6) of the workpiece table (9) is vertical relative to fixed foundation frame (1). The seat is connected with drive for ensuring translation movements and it acts in conjunction with locking elements for ensuring fixed level. The fixed foundation frame (1) is connected to a column (3) carrying fixed horizontal traverse for guiding a slide which is provided with a tool carrier in the form of a slide.
