The reinforced armoured wall may be deployed on strong-rooms or bank vaults and incorporates silicon carbide within the construction. A layer of material contg. 70-80% by wt. of silicon carbide may be included, or alternatively a concrete with carbide aggregate may be used. The carbide produces toxic or detectable fumes when attacked by a thermal lance. The layer with carbide content may be monolithic or of block form, and the concrete aggregate comprises powder with a grading appropriate to traditional concrete mixes. The concrete may contain 30-40% of silicon carbide by wt. A typical wall has a metal plate (14, 10) on the external and internal faces. Within the metal plates, layers of carbide content material (13) and concrete (11), sandwich a layer of rubber.
