摘要
A fire resistant fabric is made by laminating a layer of high melting point glass fabric between a layer of Al foil and a film of polyfluorocarbon material, specifically 'Teflon Fep' (RTM-fluorinated ethylene/propylene copolymer). The laminate is made by hot press transfer techniques, opt. using vacuum or pressure to cause the outer layers to conform to any surface irregularities of the core fabric. Used for mfr. of screens or clothing for exposure to temps. up to about 1400 degrees C for use by welders, foundry workers, firemen etc. Provides resistant to higher temps. and involves less health hazards than corres. articles made using asbestos materials. The external aluminium layer reflects incident heat, and the PTFE backing provides cohesive support for the glass fibre fabric.
