Safety device for heavy vehicle - has casing filled with energy absorbing material fitted at front as collision protection for smaller vehicle

A heavy vehicle (1) has a front collision and traps a car under itself. There is a safety assembly (2) on the front of the heavy vehicle and slopes upwards and forwards. It consists of a case of two sheets, a lower one (3) and an upper one (4), acting as guides. The two sheets have, at their upper and lower ends, parts bent vertically upwards. There are also horizontal parts pointing backwards and fixed under a solid transverse member (5) of the heavy vehicle. The inside of the case is filled with material (6) which absorbs energy by deformation.
