A carousel for drying garments and laundry items in the open air, consists of a mast, free to rotate in a socket in the ground, and formed by a metal tube with two collars which slide to support the branched structure on which the articles are hung. A collar locks the structure much more securely without it being any more difficult to unlock. The collar has a pivoting bolt which in the unlocked position enters a recess in the mast. When locked, an arm on the bolt extends into a hole in the mast, and the mast has an axial groove into which a catch on the collar projects to prevent it from turning.
