For the removal of dry unchopped agricultural forage, such as hay, straw or the like, from an accumulated stock (1) of forage, a telescopic pipe (3, 4) with a suction head (4a) is provided. The telescopic pipe is connected via a conveyor pipe (6) to a suction/pressure fan (5). The fan (5), for its part, is connected to a separator (8) for separating uncut forage for release to animals, and air and dust, via a further telescopic line (7). In the conveying pipe (6), at a point (A) remote from the fan (5), a spray apparatus is provided to moisten the unchopped forage. As a result of this moistening, the unchopped forage acquires a certain elasticity, so that breaking or crumbling during passage through the fan can be avoided. IMAGE
