ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREAn improved electrical heating element for a high-temperaturefurnace including a support structure and an electrical heating assemblyThe support structure includes a plurality of thin, flat, non-conductiveplates each having a plurality of spaced apertures therethrough and aplurality of non-conductive spacers smaller than the plates with one spacerinterposed between each pair of adjacent plates. The electrical heatingassembly includes a plurality of elongated electrical conductors, preferablyU-shaped, each log extending through one aperture in each plate radiallyoutwardly of the spacers. The conductors are supported by and extendbetween the plate and the ends of the conductors are interconnected so thatthe conductors as interconnected define a single tortuous electrical pathradially outwardly of the spacers the interconnections between the conductorsmaintain the support structure in assembly.
