In order to produce hollow cores from heat-hardenable sand/resin compositions in heated permanent metal moulds (13), the apparatus has a container (1) for sand, a container (3) for the liquid resin component, a principal mixer (11) and a mixer (12) which acts, at the same time, as a store. In order to be able to carry out all the operations cyclically and as rapidly as possible, the heat-hardenable sand/resin composition is injected, at a first station (A), into the permanent metal mould (13) with the aid of an injection system (15). Subsequently, the filled permanent metal mould (13) is transferred to a following station (B) where it remains until the corresponding wall thickness of the hollow core is achieved. Thereafter, the permanent metal mould (13) passes into the station (C) where the excess sand/resin composition is conveyed, with the aid of a blower system (29), back out of the interior of the hollow core into the mixing store (12).
