Refrigerating plant for a cold store has the compressor, liquefier and evaporator connected to each other to form a transportable unit which has an insulation wall at least between the evaporator and the other components, and which can be pushed from inside into a corresponding pre-prepared opening in a cold store wall. The opening is closed either by one insulation wall or the others. Preferably the aperture of the wall bears a peripheral seal or seal counter-piece, and the refrigerating plant has a corresponding counter-piece or seal on the insulating wall. The unit is easily interchangeable, and is supported on existing steelwork within the cold store.
