Torpedo launching system - has torpedo tubes in housings which are transported by submarine and deposited on sea bed

The torpedo launching system incorporates large housings containing torpedo tubes, which may be deposited on the sea bed. The housings are loaded with torpedos in a workshop and transported to their operational position inside the hull of a specially constructed submarine. The torpedo housings are unloaded by frogmen (22) and may remain on the sea bed for an indefinite period. For torpedo launching, a submarine is in attendance and is connected to the housing (1) by a control and supply line (23). After release of the torpedos, empty launcher housings are transported to a shore base for refilling.
