A reflector for a rod shaped light generator is especially used for reflecting ultra-violet light rays. The reflector has the shape of a groove with base forming the rear wall (53) and with sidewalls (54, 55) extending at an angle to it. The rear wall closely adjoins the light source (5) within the area of the centre plane and the sidewalls are curved at least in their rear section (60) in such a way that the width of the reflector increases up to the plane of the largest dia. with this width being maintained up to the outlet opening (62) positioned in front of the light source.
