Exposure control for a camera comprises an indicator plate (11) with a row of exposure condition markings (16a-c), which moves in the direction of the sequence of markings, and a manually actuated control lever (12) with a marker (12a) which can be set to one of the exposure condition markings. A row of distance markings (17a-e) extends parallel to the exposure condition markings, and the indicator plate can be moved perpendicularly to the rows or markings, to allow one of the rows to be seen in a window (10). A flash sensor (23) detects whether a flash device is mounted on the camera housing (22). It is connected to the indicator plate, allowing it to move perpendicularly t the rows of markings regardless of whether the flash device is mounted or not.
