The precision diameter cutting tool (1) is of one-piece construction, and can be produced in any size and with any required number of shape of cutting edges. It enables, for instance, a shaft to be produced to an exact dimension, e.g. 10.00 mm in one step, thus obviating the hitherto necessary multiple work stages and measurements. It has the further advantage of permitting shafts to be prepared accurately, without the need for final inspection, thus affording a large saving in production time. The tool has a cylindrical outer surface. It looks like a tap, and has four internal cutting edges.
