An apparatus is for training and reaction time measurement for types of sport involving an exchange of blows such as Karate, Kung-Fu etc. The apparatus comprises a body (10) with several contact fields (12) positioned within a close surface (11). Each of the contact fields have coordinated electrical contacts (16) and optical signal devices (15) both of which are connected to an electronic installation (22) incorporating a time measuring device (28), a programmer (25) and a continuous switch programme (27). The switch programme is arranged to ensure that initially at least one of the signalling devices and the time measuring devices are switched on together. When the corresponding contact field is touched the appropriate signalling device and the time measuring device are switched off and at least one further signalling device with time measuring device are switched on with this being successively continued until the programme ends.
