The traffic island is esp. suitable for guiding and slowing down traffic flow in residential areas and squares. Use is made of a large-area prefabricated slab(11) of concrete, artificial stone or similar material, which can be moved from site to site. The surface of this is fitted with elements (14-23) contributing to garden and landscaping effects. It may be set with natural pieces of stone (14-15) and/or minerals (16, 17), firmly joined to it, while plant bowls (18) can be formed into it, filled with earth (19) and supporting plants (20). The bowls can be linked to water pools (22) let into the slab, via ducts (21) mounted in it.
