Rough, eroded and artistic surface on marble or onyx panels - obtd. by sand blasting or etching

A panel is provided with a profiled surface, by an erosive or etching treatment. The treated surface is pref. coated with a matt, colourless and transparent lacquer. The profiled surface is pref. obtd. by sand blasting at a pressure of 3-15 (esp. 12) kg/cm2, for a time of 15 mins./m2, using a tubular sand nozzle. Alternatively, the profiled surface may be achieved by etching with acid. The sand blasting produces an artificial erosion which can only be achieved by up to 1000 years exposure in natural conditions, and a rough surface is obtd. with a very artistic effect and non-slip properties so the marble has new uses, e.g. as a coating on the bottom surface of swimming pools. Surface scratches are less visible.
