Fuel powder of almost any regulable isotope compsn. within the range of any starting material present is produced by first passing starting materials of varying compsn., i.e. enrichment, in the required amt., without premixing, to conventional conversion processes, e.g. the AUC (ammonium uranyl carbonate) or ADU (ammonium diuranate), and then processing further to the required degree of enrichment. Mixing in the conversion process instead of in the form of the powdered prod. gives absolute homogeneous mixing of the various isotopes (e.g. U-235 andU-238).
