Wind turbine generator with vertical shaft - has stationary guide blades round impeller to concentrate wind for higher output

The turbine has an impeller (2) mounted on a vertical axis with radially projecting blades having a correct hydraulic profile. The impeller is surrounded by a ring of stationary guide blades (1). These project out radially and curve slightly away from the impeller. Their bottom edge stays level with that of the impeller blades but their upper edge curves upwards to increase the vertical dimension outwards from the impeller. The guide plates collect wind from any direction and concentrate it on the impeller to give a high output and efficiency. The electrical generator is mounted on the shaft below the impeller.
