Sandwich capacitor prodn. process - uses strip with first and second metal layers with measured capacitance controlling de-metallised regions

A continuous band is produced by continuous application on a thermoplastic foil of a first strip-like metal layer. This layer is followed by a dielectric layer and a second metal layer, with capacitive overlapping areas of the two metal layers. Leads are connected to the metal layer non-overlaping areas. Then the capacitors are cut from the band. The second metal layer (13) is produced by continuous application followed by demetallisation of narrow strips. The width of the demetallised strips is controlled by the actual nominal value deviations in earlier contacted capacitors.
