Sand trap clearing system - with submersible pump suspended from moving carriage on gantry

A clearing system for longitudinal sand traps in sewage and water treatment plant consists of a carriage which can be moved along a gantry structure over the length of the rectangular sand trap. The carriage is equipped with a vertical pipe on which a submersible pump is suspended to dip into the mixture of water, sand and sludge and to extract it into a gutter. This is a simple arrangement with a minimum of capital costs. It saves the labour for manual cleaning operation.
