The spirit-level device has a vertical linkage adjustable axially to an individual length. The linkage has a remote-controlled writing or scoring marker attached to its upper end. This marker consists of a marking pencil movable horizontally over the marker plane. The marker may consist of a housing (1) and a carriage (6) moveable to and fro on it in a horizontal direction parallel to the marking plane. The marking pencil (8) is gripped firmly in the carriage. This carriage may also have a certain freedom of movement perpendicularly to the marking plane.
