The system for generating waves in a swimming-pool involves three chambers. The two partition walls are moved horizontally backwards and forwards by standard mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic drives. This enables the space needed for the triple-chamber system to be considerably reduced, esp. as far as height is concerned. The partitions are made in the form of pistons. Water is pressed from the outer chambers into the pool as they move to and fro and then sucked into the centre chamber and vice versa.
