Swimming pool wave generation system - uses pneumatically or hydraulically swelling pockets formed by flexible side mats

The wave generator in a swimming pool uses a hydraulic or pneumatic system for effecting periodic water displacement in the waveforming area. Wave generation is effected all over the usable pool area, by inflation of pockets formed by the solid pool sides (2), below the water, and by flexible mats (3), connected to the edges of these with a sealing effect. Water or air is periodically introduced and removed through apertures (5) in the sealed areas, so that the mat bulges out and causes the adjacent water to move, forming wave crests (6) and valleys (7). This involves neither loss of part of the usable pool area, nor temporary inactivity of mechanical fittings.
