A cap closure is for liquid fuel tanks on motor vehicles. The inner bowl of the closure is sealed off by an intermediate seal in relation to a spring bowl and it is fitted with a valve opening normally closed by a valve unit. The valve unit (15) is fitted with a guide peg (17) running through the valve opening (14) and a valve chamber (14') the depth of which corresponds to the thickness of the valve unit is closed off by the intermediate seal formed as a plate (8) with passages (23). The plate is made as a cardboard plate covered with a metal layer.
