The fuel tank cap (10), at the vehicle fuel tank filling pipe (12), has a locking mechanism (40,42). A profile closure (13) is at the inner side of the cap, to close the pipe when the cap is closed. The closure has an air escape channel with at least one self-opening and non-return valve, with one end (50) of the channel fitting inside the tank pipe and the other end (52) at the closure where it meets the cap. The profile closure is of an elastic rubber material, which is resistant to the fuel and seals the filling pipe.
