The drive shaft of the advance roller is linked to the drive, displaced from the needle by a flexible transmission shaft. An electro-motor is used as the fabric advance drive, together with a flange-bonded gearing and a further flange-bonded magnetic powder coupling. The mounting for the roller bearing is rigidly bonded to the shaft of the presser foot of the sewing machine, through a screw-mounted attachment lever. The lver is fitted with horizontal threaded drillings to take the mounting screws. The fabric advance drive unit is mounted externally at the rear of the sewing machine housing. The mounting is in the form of a lever with the fabric advance roller at one end, with the other end being used to swing the roller clear of the zone of the presser foot.
