The programme retrieval system is used for a processor with a central processing unit, an input terminal, a main store and an external store, the latter holding several sub-instruction files. Each file contains several sub-instruction execution programmes and a common initiation programme. The main store contains a file table for each sub-instruction file, with the parameters apertaining to each of the sub-instruction execution programmes.
