Mortar consists, by vol. of 67-83% light, porous aggregate bonded by 14-23% binder, and admixed with 0.1-2% nonionic surfactant, 0.3-2% water-repellent additives, 0.00003-1% fungicide and 0.07-0.5% materials, (I) which limit vol. change of mortar, e.g. CMC. The mortar is used partic. for damp walls in buildings having defective or no insulation against damp, esp. walls fitted with an electroosmotic installation, and in laundries, fermentation chambers and maltings. The mortar is diffuse, fungicidal, frost-resistant, prevents surface condensation, has good plasticity and adhesion to substrate. Shrinking and cracking are prevented.
