Mortar additive for stopping solidification of cement mortars contg. binder, e.g. cement, lime or gypsum aggregate and water, consists of a mixt. of a water-soluble cellulose ether and of a water-soluble lignin sulphonate. Each of these 2 constituents is present in a quantity =1 (e.g. 1-5)% of dry wt. of binder used in mortar. esp. applying ceramic or calcareous covers, foam insulator sheets and organic or inorganic fibres, plastering, stucco finishing and preparing substrates for application of protective agents and coatings, e.g. epoxy and glass/resin coatings.
