Complex polyvinyl pyrrolidones have the formula:- where R1, R2 and R3 independently are H, lower alkyl, an alkaline earth metal, m and n are 1, 2 or 3 and x is 250-300. The complex is used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic compsns. in the treatment of odontopathies and parodontopathies and in mouth hygiene. Examples are mouth washes, toothe pastes, dental water, chewing gum, pastilles, gels etc. The complex protects the teeth enamel from attack with the advantage of having the F and phosphate combined on a single support giving a stable aq. soln. The complex is prepd. by mixing solns. of the ingredients and spray drying.
